Minibar Privacy Policy
Effective 17 October 2026
Minibar does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers and no crash reporting unless you explicitly send us a log file yourself.
What stays on your Mac
Plugin settings, plugin storage, your menu bar preferences and logs are kept inside Minibar's sandboxed app container on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/app.minibar.Minibar). They are never uploaded by Minibar. Deleting the app deletes them.
Network connections Minibar makes itself
- Plugin registry. To show the plugin market and check for plugin updates, Minibar downloads
registry.json, its signature and plugin packages from the registry URL configured in Settings (by default this site,minibar.084817.xyz, hosted on Vercel). Vercel may keep standard web server logs such as your IP address for a short time under the Vercel Privacy Policy; Minibar never sees those logs. You can change the registry URL or point it at your own copy. - Download counts. When a plugin package is downloaded from this site, the registry adds one to that plugin's counter so the market can show how popular a plugin is. Only per-plugin totals (all-time and per day) are kept. No IP address, device identifier, user agent or time of your individual download is stored, and nothing is sent by the app beyond the download request itself.
Network connections plugins make
A plugin can only reach the internet if it declares the network permission and lists the hosts it talks to. Those requests go directly from your Mac to that service (for example Open-Meteo for weather, Yahoo Finance for stocks, GitHub for your notifications), under that service's own privacy policy. Minibar does not proxy, inspect, log or store the content of these requests. Each plugin's hosts are shown before you install it and in its settings.
Permissions
Calendar, reminders, location, clipboard, files, system actions, other apps and notifications are only available to a plugin after you allow that permission for that specific plugin, and after macOS itself has granted Minibar access where the system requires it. Data obtained this way is processed on your Mac inside the plugin that asked for it and is never sent anywhere by Minibar. You can revoke any permission at any time in Settings › Plugins; the plugin loses access immediately.
Secrets
Settings marked as secret (such as an API token you give a plugin) are stored in the app container, shown as password fields, and never written to logs or error messages.
This website
This site is static and sets no tracking cookies. If you pick a language, a single cookie (minibar-lang) remembers that choice for a year; nothing else is stored.
Children
Minibar is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
